Hamilton Beach Bread Maker Review
Both Hamilton Beach Home Bakers (Model 29881 & 29882) are very similar but there are a few minor differences that you need to be aware of. Of course one is black and the other is white and the two often come with different price tags, but those are not the only differences. The hamilton beach website currently lists these two bread makers at the same price indicating very minor differences between the two models.
Update: I did contact the Hamilton Beach Company and they confirmed these two models are basically the same bread maker, color being the main difference.
Both models are designed in such a way that no manual operations are needed in order to make bread. Breads are prepared in three simple steps: addition of ingredients, selection of baking cycles and then pressing the start button. In both bread machines, there are 12 baking functions, including : Gluten Free, Basic, French, Whole Grain, 1.5 lb. Express, 2 lb. Express, Jam, Dough, Cake, Sweet, Whole Grain and Bake.
If you’re sensitive to gluten, then you can take advantage of the “Gluten Free” setting to make gluten-free bread. Also, the bread machines have light, dark and medium crusts settings, allowing you to get a perfect loaf from your breadmaker. Another great feature is the audible reminder to add fruits and nuts. With this feature, you’re able to hear a beep sound so you can know when to add extra ingredients like nuts and chopped or dried fruits into the fruit dispenser. The auto warm function, which is a common feature on both models, keeps the freshly-baked bread warm up to an hour after preparation. Both models are also equipped with a 13-hour delay timer so you can set your bread machine to bake bread close to the morning or any other time that’s convenient for you.
Minor Differences Between Hamilton Beach 29881 & 29882
The key differences between these two models of bread machines revolve around the manufacturer’s product specifications. Firstly, the Hamilton Beach HomeBaker 29881 comes with a white finish while the Hamilton Beach HomeBaker 29882 features a black finish. The product dimensions and weight also differ, with the former measuring12.01 H x 15.28 W x 11.02 D and weighing approximately 15 lb. and the latter measuring 12.2 H x 14.13 W x 10.43 D and weighing about 12.80 lb. But overall, there does not appear to be any significant differences in baking performance, versatility, durability and other key aspects of the bread machines.

Ease of Use
Both models are extremely easy to use, especially for beginner bakers. A number of reviewers who have bought either of these two bread makers say that not only is their setup quite simple, but the bread machines are highly intuitive and you don’t even need the included manufacturer’s instructions. To make bread, all you need to do is to add ingredients, select cycle, and press start. The two models are particularly great at kneading dough. It’s no wonder even some experienced bakers are buying and using the bread machines to knead dough before shaping, proofing and baking by hand. Many users say that these two bread machines work better than many pricier products out there, especially when it comes to kneading thicker doughs.
Cleaning and Maintenance
The kneading blades found on both models are easily removable and for this reason both bread machines can be cleaned easily. The manufacturer provides an extra paddle with both models, allowing you to make a loaf while the other paddle is being cleaned. As well, the pan and paddle are both dish-washer safe.
